In class last week we discussed some of our previous works. I wanted to post some pictures of the piece I brought up in class. It is the only art work that I have ever had the privilege to show in a gallery. It was pretty cool to see it on a pedestal with my name on it!
And just cause I can't resist here is a picture of my daughter Grace. :)

Reading response to Sentences on Conceptual Art by Sol Lewitt
After completing the reading one of the sentences stood out for me: "27. The concept of a work of art may involve the matter of the piece or the process in which it is made." this reminded me of Jackson Pollock and his works. Most of my friends and relatives don't like his work. They say things like "I could have made that!" as if the definition of fine art was something mortals can't do. The process of creating art has always ment more to me than the end product. I like sculpture and Pollock's work because in viewing the piece one gets a sense of the process that was used to create it. When it comes to art my love lies in the process, the steps taken, and the concepts that drive the artist and not much in the end product. Like chisel marks on canvas, Pollock's work does not represent worldly things but instead the process with which he created the work. Sometimes i don't aesthetically like my own work but I have a tremendous love for the process and the work that i put into it.
